Palin's response wasn't amazing. It's the federal government's error, of course. Both the exchange completed with Palin reluctantly agreeing which, yes, the main refugees searching asylum probably aren't ISIS. It might not seem much, but it remained admirable with regard to one late-night host but not to acquiesce so instantly, even and if this was just to Sarah Palin. Now we tend to just need true journalists to originate daunting the actual politicians starting for the country's highest workplace.

American Music Awards Most Memorable Red Carpet Looks of All Time

Nope, we're not talking about Thanksgiving—we've got AMAs on the brain. As the 2015 American Music Awards loom, we're on pins and needles awaiting the wowing (and wacky) styles that are bound to hit the red carpet. But in the meantime, we're talking a look back at some of the most unforgettable AMAs looks ever.
Thinking back to the 2014 carpet, there were three stunners in particular who stood out amongst the pack. And that would include Rita Ora, who served as the (literal) bright spot of the evening in a highlighter Zac Posen gown and Jessie J, who made simple oh-so-chic in this tailored white Prada suit. Yet, if there could only be one standout star, it'd have to be Jennifer Lopez in this ultra-sexy silk, cutout Reem Acra silk dress.
However, those aren't the only looks that come to mind. In fact, some of the most memorable ensembles have been the truly out-the-box creations, beginning with Lady Gaga's Versace dress. This number was a standout on its own, but her accessory—a giant (fake) white horse—certainly stole the show.

Christina Aguilera and Rihanna both made splashy past presentations, donning a purple Pamella Roland gown and a fiery red Elie Saab Haute Couture number respectively. And while the AMA's red carpet has seen quite a few sartorial shockers over the years, we daresay none were more traffic-stopping than Bleona Qereti's Shahla Dorriz fishnet piece.
As you can see, almost anything goes at the American Music Awards, and you know this Sunday's show will be no exception.

5 things we're excited for at the American Music Awards

Music's biggest stars are gathering at the American Music Awards on Sunday, and the show is chock full of performances from artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. Here's what to look out for at this year's show.

1.Celine Dion sings a tribute to Paris victims: The world was rocked when the Paris attacks killed 130 people on Nov. 13, 2015. Vocal powerhouse and native French speaker Celine Dion will sing Edith Piaf's "Hymne a L'Amour" in homage to those affected by the attacks. The song title translates to "Hymn to Love"; Dion will sing in French in what will surely be a moving tribute.

2. A "Star Wars" performance from Pentatonix: Fans can't wait for the latest "Star Wars" movie, "The Force Awakens," to hit theaters, but they can get a little taste of the film at the AMAs. Pentatonix, the a cappella group, will perform the "Star Wars" theme at the AMAs, and beatboxer Kevin Olusola promised Rolling Stone that "it's going to be epic." Olusola added that the performance won't be a cappella, as they will be accompanied by John Williams' orchestra, but he promised: "Our fans are going to be geeking out, because a lot of them are choral students, and I think they're going to get a huge kick out of this."

3. Killer outfits from Jennifer Lopez: When it comes to awards shows and unforgettable fashion, AMAs host Jennifer Lopez never disappoints. People still talk about J. Lo's Grammys dress from 2000, and the singer made headlines in May when she wore a barely there dress (with a big intentional hole on the side). We predict lots of wild wardrobe changes at the AMAs, especially because Lopez will be performing in addition to hosting.

4. An incredible, star-studded lineup: This year's list of performers at the AMAs is bursting at the seams, and we're not complaining. Who's performing? Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani, The Weeknd, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Coldplay, One Direction, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Walk the Moon, Selena Gomez, 5 Seconds of Summer and Carrie Underwood will take the stage in addition to Dion and Lopez. Basically, it's the entire pop industry's greatest hits all on one stage.

5. Surprise emojis: What would an awards show be in 2015 without custom emojis? The AMAs are teaming up with Twitter to create custom emojis for your favorite artists. Just type hashtags like #BieberOnAMAs or #GwenOnAMAs on Sunday to see how the surprise emojis look.

The awards show, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, will feature a string of star-studded performances, including a duet from Morissette and Lovato, as well as sets from Gwen Stefani, 5 Seconds Of Summer and The Weeknd and a performance of John Williams's famous Star Wars score from Pentatonix, accompanied by a full symphony orchestra.

North Korea's Denuclearization, Is It Possible

It is easy to become frustrated as one reviews the inventory of seemingly failed or inadequate policy recommendations for how the United States might more effectively deal with North Korea. But frustration cannot be allowed to turn into fatalism, and important interests should not fester unattended until they metastasize into an even larger problem that will inevitably require even more dramatic, bold, and costly responses.

North Korea’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons capabilities continue unchecked and complicate both military and diplomatic options for pursuing denuclearization. Michel Wallerstein showcases a clear inventory of North Korea’s continued efforts and the limited policy options for the United States, as do a range of papers for the Johns Hopkins University SAIS U.S.-Korea Institute’s nuclear futures project.

The inventory of possible measures for dealing with North Korea at this stage fall into four main categories:

1) The squeezers, who hope that tougher sanctions will force North Korea to give up its nuclear capabilities. For instance, Sue Terry, writing for the National Bureau of Asian Research, recommends that the United States “double down on sanctions by enforcing against North Korea the kind of sanctions that brought Iran to the negotiating table.” This approach mirrors the intent of several sanctions bills under consideration in the U.S. Congress.

2) The China firsters, who anticipate that private Chinese expressions of disgust and frustration with North Korea can be integrated into China’s official policy and be leveraged to achieve a grand bargain that results in the elimination of the North Korean threat, either through Chinese acceptance of Korean unification or replacement of the Kim Jong-un regime with a North Korean leadership that respects the boundaries imposed by China’s strategic interests. For instance, Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, has advocated that Beijing and Washington reach strategic consensus on Korean reunification. There is a broad consensus on the need to work with China in the U.S. policy community, but there is disagreement on what could realistically be achieved with such an approach.

3) The saboteurs, who hope to take advantage of North Korea’s pursuit of provocations, nuclear tests, and human rights violations to undermine international and domestic support for the Kim regime. Harvard University’s Jieun Baek argues for a combination of covert information operations to collaborate with internal dissidents, strengthening of nongovernmental organizations that train North Korean refugees in information dissemination and business skills, and training of North Korean defectors in journalism, information technology, and social media. There is also the temptation to weaken North Korea’s legitimacy through naming and shaming regarding the country’s human rights failings as exposed by the UN Commission of Inquiry on North Korean human rights.

Watch ‘Central Intelligence’ Trailer Sees Dwayne Johnson Recruit Kevin Hart

Warner Bros. has released a new “Central Intelligence” teaser trailer, seven months before the June 17 opening of the action-comedy which pairs Dwayne Johnson with Kevin Hart.

“Heroes come in two sizes,” the trailer teases before dishing out a variety of car crashes, gunfights and banter between the stars.

Hart plays a former high school sports star turned accountant who is contacted by a former classmate (Johnson) who used to be overweight and bullied but has since become a contract killer for the CIA. “I need your skillset to save the entire free world,” Johnson tells Hart, much to Hart’s dismay.

Scott Stuber, Peter Principato and Paul Young are producing. “Central Intelligence” is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” “We’re the Millers”).

Johnson revealed via an Instagram post that this inspiration for his character, Bob, “has always been Tom Hanks in ‘BIG’ with an added twist. He’s a grown man who’s extremely childlike and views the world thru [sic] exuberant and enthusiastic teenage eyes… The ‘added twist’ is Bob has an extremely high IQ and is one of the most lethal men on the planet as a C.I.A. contract killer. Oh the most important character trait.. He hates bullies.”

'Marvel's Jessica Jones' An inspired, dark twist on superhero sagas

The latest Marvel comics-inspired series, "Jessica Jones," gives us a heroine who's a cross between Sam Spade, Walter White, and Wonder Woman.

While that sounds like a recipe for failure, the true super power shown by "Jessica Jones" is how well it blends elements that seem like they shouldn't be in the same universe, let alone the same show. And it gives Krysten Ritter, as Jessica Jones, a role as complex as any of TV's memorable antiheroes.

"Jessica Jones," which begins streaming its 13 episodes on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 20, is part of a Marvel/Netflix deal, which will ultimately give us five series derived from Marvel properties.

But these aren't the quippy, action-bloated blockbusters that lumber into movie theaters. The first Netflix/Marvel series, "Daredevil," set the dark, adult tone that "Jessica Jones" continues.

"Jessica Jones" is adapted from a comic book series created by writer Brian Michael Bendis -- who lives in Portland -- and artist Michael Gaydos.  While other TV series have tried to give us female heroes as flawed and fascinating as Don Draper in "Mad Men," or Tony Soprano in "The Sopranos," "Jessica Jones" succeeds where others have fizzled.

Jessica has super powers, we gradually come to find out. But because of something terrible in her past, she hides them, and works as a low-rent private investigator. Jessica's main goal seems to be keeping a low profile, and throwing herself away by drinking to excess, and hiding out in her rathole of a New York apartment.

Despite her self-destructive habits, Jessica is good at her job, however underhanded her methods.  In the first episode, she investigates a case involving a nice young woman from the Midwest who's missing. This simple-sounding set-up turns deadly when Jessica discovers the man behind it all is the diabolical Kilgrave (David Tennant), who has the power to make people do things they desperately don't want to do.

Naturally, Jessica and Kilgrave have history. And it's bad. She's so terrified, she wants to run, but ultimately she finds the courage to stay and try to protect others from the damage Kilgrave can do.

In the first episode, executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (who wrote the "Twilight" movies), overdoes Jessica's film noir-style narration ("In my line of work, you gotta know when to walk away. But some cases just won't let you go.")

But things improve with the second episode, as we learn more about Jessica, and her relationship with Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who's also trying to lay low, and also turns out to have super powers. (And he's in line for his own Netflix series, too, in 2016.)

Ritter is terrific, in a role that showcases her talents for black comedy (shown in the sitcom, "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23") and tragedy (her role as Jesse's short-lived junkie lover in "Breaking Bad.") And she has sizzling chemistry with Colter, who was memorably intimidating as the drug kingpin Lemond Bishop in "The Good Wife."

The entire cast, including Rachael Taylor and Carrie-Anne Moss, is strong. The show does an excellent job of portraying female characters, especially, as complicated, conflicted and multilayered.

Tennant's Kilgrave is shown, at first, almost as a shadow, but the menace that emanates from him hovers over the story like a blanket you want to throw off, but you can't.

Jessica Jones opening credits showcase the series'

They say good things come to those who wait… and while there’s still a few hours to go until Marvel’s Jessica Jones officially hits Netflix, fans can now watch the series’ opening titles. Released via Twitter with the tease, “A little something to get you through the next twelve hours,” the stylized opening showcases the show’s darker vibe while paying homage to its comic book counterpart.

Krysten Ritter stars as the titular hero, along with Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, and David Tennant as Kilgrave (a.k.a. The Purple Man). If you’ve missed any of Netflix’s previous teases (including an example of just how ruthless Kilgrave can be), check them out below. All episodes of Jessica Jones will be available to stream on Netflix starting Nov. 20.
I'm going to be your guest here indefinitely. You'll be delighted.

Krysten Ritter on Why ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ is ‘Like Nothing on Telev...

“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” makes its much-anticipated Netflix debut on Nov. 20, and as Variety critic Mo Ryan notes in her review, the series is “not just a contender for the title of Best Marvel-related TV Property; in a supremely crowded TV scene, it is one of the year’s most distinctive new dramas.” That assessment is thanks, in large part, to Krysten Ritter’s performance as the show’s titular heroine, a prickly, damaged and deeply conflicted private eye who nonetheless manages to radiate wit and charisma, even when she’s at her most antagonistic. The series is based on writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos’ “Alias” comic book series, with Melissa Rosenberg serving as showrunner.

Variety spoke to Ritter about her approach to the super-powered detective, her place in Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (alongside Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and why Jessica Jones is “the best part that I had ever seen.”
It’s kind of exactly what you just said. She’s such an original, sort of obscure, misfit character in the Marvel universe and I love how grounded the show is and how deeply complex and developed she is. I feel like it’s such a rare opportunity to get a role like this. It’s a part that you find in some weird, dark, obscure independent movie that nobody will ever see, and fact that I get that opportunity on a Netflix platform, with the Marvel logo… it’s completely insane. When I first read the script — I read the first few before I got the part — I walked out of there and felt like they were the best scripts I had read and the best part that I had ever seen, available to me or not. A tough female character like this doesn’t come around every day.
A little bit of both. This was some heavy lifting for me. I’m in 99 percent of the scenes so there wasn’t a lot of down-time, so I kind of just had to stay in that mindset, and go home, and go to sleep, and come back. If I had an opportunity to shake it off, whether it was with Carrie-Anne [Moss] or Rachael [Taylor] on set, and enjoy myself, that was welcome. But it’s the kind of work as an actress that I’d always wished to do. So for me, it was very creatively rewarding to just roll up my sleeves and sink in.
Big time. When I first heard about the show, my manager called and said “Netflix” — I’d really wished to be on a Netflix show because I love the content that they’re putting out and I think their shows are really top quality, and those are the shows that I watch. I love “House of Cards,” I love “Bloodline,” I love “Orange is the New Black,” so I had written on my refrigerator that I was looking for “groundbreaking television on Netflix.” That’s what I wanted to do, so when my manager called like, “Okay, so Netflix wants to see you for this superhero show,” and I like to audition so I was like, “Great! I’m never going to get that, but I’m happy just to go.” My mind never went to the place where “Jessica Jones” lives. I just assumed “superhero — that’s not what I look like, I’ll never get that.” They were parsing out information, [all] secretive, as Marvel is, and I started reading scenes and I was like, “This is really cool. Is this real? Is this really this dark and this dramatic and this character-driven?

And then I met with Melissa Rosenberg and Jeph Loeb, and at the end of the meeting we’re just going through all the things that she is and everything they’re saying, I’m just lighting up more and more, and then at the end of the meeting, they just said, “And she needs to be funny.” I was like, “What? Now you’re talking.” I was like, “Come on. Who else are you going find that could do this?” Then I started screen testing with Mike [Colter] and I was very vocal about how badly I wanted the part. I just loved how it was an opportunity for me to do drama, and comedy, and action sequences, but the real thing that really got me was when they said they needed someone that could be funny. I’m like, “Come on.” So I just worked my ass off. I wanted to prove to them and bring a work ethic to it that I didn’t think anybody else in the whole world would ever bring. So everyday was like, “Okay,” proving that they choose the right girl.
